The State Council decides to make the following revisions to the Provisions of the State Council on Working Hours of Staff and Workers:
Article 1 Article 3 is revised as "Staff and workers work for eight hours a day, and forty hours a week."
Article 2 Article 5 is revised as "Where the standard labor time system of eight hours a day and forty hours a week can not be implemented due to constraints of work characteristics or production features, other methods of work and rest may be implemented in accordance with relevant provisions of the state."
Article 3 Article 7 is revised as "State organs and public institutions shall implement the unified working hours, and Saturday and Sunday shall be rest days of a week.
Enterprises and public institutions that can not implement the unified working hours as provided in the preceding paragraph may arrange weekly rest day(s) in a flexible way according to actual situation."
Article 4 Article 9 is revised as "These provisions shall come into effect on May 1, 1995.
