(Adopted at the 17th Session of the Standing Committee of the Seventh National People's Congress on December 28, 1990, promulgated according to the Order of the President of the People's Republic of China No.39 on December 28, 1990, and amended in accordance with the Decision on Amending Certain Laws adopted at the Tenth Session of the Standing Committee of the 11th National People's Congress on August 27, 2009)
The following decision is made in order to punish criminals who smuggle, produce, sell or disseminate pornographic books and periodicals, movies, video- and audio-tapes, pictures or other pornographic articles, maintain social security and public order, strengthen the socialistic spiritual civilization construction and resist the corrosive influence of the decadent bourgeois ideology:
I. Whoever smuggles pornographic articles for the purpose of making profits or disseminating them shall be punished in accordance with the Supplementary Provisions concerning the Punishment of the Crimes of Smuggling.
