To Beijing Administration for Industry and Commerce:

Your Request for Instructions on Issues concerning the Use of the Enterprises' Names (Jing Gong Shang Wen [2001] No. 239) has been received. Now we are giving our reply as follows:

Article 1 Where the enterprises use the same surname as that of the leaders of party and state, the older-generation revolutionaries or celebrities in their company name, if the surname is the same as that of the natural person as investor of the said company and during the advertisement, promotion and operation of the company, and if the use of the said name has not mislead the public to believe that the enterprise has relation to some leader of party and state, older-generation revolutionary or celebrity, or is not detrimental to their image or benefits, the registration authority shall not prohibit the enterprise from using the name.
