Article 1 These Measures are formulated in accordance with the relevant provisions in the Trademark Law of the People's Republic of China and the Regulations for the Implementation of the Trademark Law of the People's Republic of China for the purpose of strengthening the protection of geographical indications, safeguarding the lawful rights and interest of the geographical indication registrants, regulating the use of the special signs of geographical indication products (hereinafter referred to as "Special Signs"), and promoting the development of geographical indication products.
Article 2 The term "Special Sign" mentioned in the Measures means the special signs set up by the Trademark Office of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce for geographical indication products, which have been ratified by the Trademark Office for registration.
Article 3 The basic pattern of a Special Sign is composed of the words "the Trademark Office of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce of the People's Republic of China" in both Chinese and English, the words "China Geographical Indication" in Chinese, the transfigured style of the letters "GI", and the patterns of wheat and the Temple of Heaven.
