Circular on Carrying out Regular Statistical Survey on Overseas Institutions in the Insurance Industry

All insurance companies and insurance asset management companies,
With a view to comprehensively understanding the scale and structure of foreign direct investment of the insurance industry, as well as the operational status of overseas institutions in the insurance industry, so as to provide the basis for timely analysis on the development trend in foreign direct investment of the insurance industry, formulation of relevant policies, and implementation of supervision and administration, this Commission has decided to carry out regular statistical survey on overseas institutions in the insurance industry. Relevant issues are hereby set out as follows:
I. Objects of the statistical survey
Objects of regular statistical survey on overseas institutions shall refer to various types of enterprises or institutions in foreign countries and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions that are established or purchased, and owned or, with 10% or more of equity controlled by domestic insurance institutions in cash, in kind, with intangible assets or by other means (hereinafter referred to as the Overseas Institution), including overseas subsidiaries (tier-one subsidiaries, excluding companies subordinated to subsidiaries), branch offices, associated companies, representative offices, offices, etc.
