MIIT Seeks Comments on Requirements for Vehicle Data Security and Four Other National Standards
Promulgation date: 2026-10-20 Chinese version
Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has released five draft mandatory national standards, including Requirements for Vehicle Data Security (Draft for Comment) (the "Draft"), for public comments. Comments may be submitted by December 19, 2026.

The Draft specifies vehicle data security assurance requirements, basic requirements, technical requirements, and criteria for determination of the same type, and describes the corresponding inspection and testing methods. It applies to vehicles of categories M and N, but does not apply to special-purpose vehicles modified from Type II chassis or complete vehicles that already have type approval. The Draft is intended to replace GB/T 44464-2024 General Requirements of Vehicle Data. In addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, it makes more than 30 major technical changes. These include revising the scope of application from "vehicle products and vehicle data processors" to "vehicles of categories M and N, excluding special-purpose vehicles modified from Type II chassis or complete vehicles that already have type approval "; revising the definitions of "collect" and "cabin data"; and replacing the description of "vehicle data security management system requirements" with "security assurance requirements" and revising the relevant specific requirements.
