Multiple Departments Jointly Ban the Production, Circulation, Consumption, Import and Export of Persistent Organic Pollutants Including Lindane

Eleven authorities, including the Ministry of Ecology and Environment ("MEE"), have recently distributed the Announcement on the Prohibition of the Production, Circulation, Consumption, Import and Export of Persistent Organic Pollutants Including Lindane (the "Announcement").

The Announcement expressly states that: 1. From March 26, 2019, producing, circulating, using, importing or exporting Lindane and Endosulfan will be prohibited; 2. From March 26, 2019, producing, circulating, using, importing or exporting perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (POSA) as well as its salt compounds and perfluorooctanesulfonyl fluoride (POSF) will be also banned, unless for acceptable uses; 3. All levels of departments of ecology and environment and other related departments shall, in line with provisions of State laws and regulations, tighten their supervision and administration of the production, circulation, consumption, import and export of the abovesaid persistent organic pollutants, and take serious measures to investigate and punish parties caught breaching the Announcement.
