Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology ("MIIT") and the Standardization Administration of China ("SAC") have jointly issued the Guide to Building a Comprehensive Standardization Framework for Industrial Internet (the "Guide").
According to the Guide, it is expected to preliminarily establish a framework of standards for industrial internet by 2020, with efforts focused on researching and introducing urgently-needed standards for industry development, covering areas of factory intranet, network resource management, edge devices, interoperability of heterogeneous identification, industry-related big data, industrial micro-services, development and deployment of industrial applications (APP), and safety capacity evaluation. Also, the Guide calls for efforts in two aspects which are "developing a framework of standards for industrial internet" and "following the major direction of standardization". Among others, the Guide states that the major fields and direction of standardization include the basic universal standards, general standards and application standards. The basic universal standards are mainly aimed at providing for the universality of industrial internet and guiding standards for industrial internet, including standards in relation to terminology and definitions, universal needs, structure, testing and assessment, and management.
