SHFE Releases New Rules on the Management of Non-ferrous Metal Products for Futures Delivery of the Shanghai Futures Exchange

Recently, the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) has formulated and released the Rules on the Management of Non-ferrous Metal Products for Futures Delivery of the Shanghai Futures Exchange (Revised in June 2026) (the "Rules"), which take effect on the date of release.

According to the Rules, the revision aims to ensure the smooth operation of lead futures on the SHFE, strengthen the management of non-ferrous metals futures products for delivery, and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of all parties involved in futures trading. The main revisions include: (1) replacing "Lead Ingots (Pb99.994)" with "Lead"; and (2) distinguishing the requirements applicable to lead ingots and secondary lead ingots in the appendices, and adding application materials and requirements specifically for secondary lead ingots, including key economic and technical indicators, surface (exterior) quality inspection, and intrinsic quality inspection.
