The Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) recently released the Circular on Issuing the Typical Cases of Procuratorial Public Interest Litigation Involving Assistance from Volunteers (the "Circular").
According to the Circular, eight typical cases are published, including the administrative public interest litigation case where the Procuratorate of Jiuzhaigou County, Sichuan Province, urged the improvement of accessible facilities in scenic areas. These cases cover multiple areas, such as the construction of barrier-free environments, eco-environment and resource protection, food safety, cultural relic protection, and work safety. The volunteers involved in these cases include members of democratic parties such as the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang and the China Zhi Gong Party, representatives of the National People's Congress, members of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, experts from universities, as well as cultural and tourism bloggers. Behind them is a team of volunteers from various industries, fields, and regions. The volunteers have deeply participated in such processes as clue submission, professional consultation, prosecutorial hearing, and follow-up observation, playing a substantive auxiliary role and contributing to enhancing case handling quality and efficiency. All these have innovated the content and form of public participation in public interest protection.
