Recently, the Ministry of Education (MOE) and six other authorities have jointly issued the Opinions on Strengthening Science and Technology Education in Primary and Secondary Schools (the "Opinions").
The Opinions outline six key tasks: (1) building an integrated education system that promotes synergy between science and technology education and humanities education; (2) developing an open and integrated curriculum ecosystem and teaching model to guide students in applying multidisciplinary knowledge to solve problems; (3) strengthening research-led, competency-oriented teaching and comprehensive evaluation by establishing and improving mechanisms for assessing science and technology education; (4) enhancing diverse resource development and learning environments to promote the co-construction and sharing of high-quality digital resources; (5) advancing high-quality teacher development and collaboration among families, schools, and communities through the establishment of regional science and technology education centers; and (6) promoting extensive and in-depth international exchange and cooperation to foster research and practice in science and technology education for primary and secondary schools worldwide and to enhance international influence and competitiveness.
