NIA Issues Administrative Provisions on the Passage in the Shanghai Eastern Hub International Business Cooperation Zone

The National Immigration Administration (NIA) has released the Administrative Provisions on the Passage in the Shanghai Eastern Hub International Business Cooperation Zone (Provisional) (the "Provisions"), effective from the official operation of the pilot area in the business cooperation zone.

According to the Provisions, foreigners entering the business cooperation zone via international (regional) flights through Pudong International Airport for the main purposes of business exchange, international conference, international training, and other activities shall be registered with the comprehensive management body of the business cooperation zone via the integrated information management service platform by the inviting organization 48 hours in advance. The Provisions further clarify that foreigners shall hold a passport or other travel documents, and a valid invitation registered with the comprehensive management body of the business cooperation zone and may enter or leave the area upon inspection and approval by immigration authorities. Foreigners may stay in the business cooperation zone for 30 days. If it is necessary to extend the stay, the foreigner or the inviting organization shall submit the corresponding materials to the immigration authorities 24 hours before the expiration of the period. The stay shall not be extended by more than 30 days in total.
