Seven Departments Issue Implementation Plan for the Digital and Intelligent Transformation of the Pharmaceutical Industry (2025-2030)

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and six other departments have issued the Implementation Plan for the Digital and Intelligent Transformation of the Pharmaceutical Industry (2025-2030) (the "Plan").

According to the Plan, by 2027, significant progress will be made in the digital and intelligent transformation of the pharmaceutical industry, and the competitiveness of the entire pharmaceutical industry chain driven by digital and intelligent technologies and the quality management level throughout the product lifecycle will be significantly improved; by 2030, pharmaceutical enterprises above designated size will basically realize the full coverage of digital and intelligent transformation, integrated innovation capabilities of digital and intelligent technologies will be significantly enhanced, the data system covering the entire chain of the pharmaceutical industry will be further improved, and the ecosystem for the digital and intelligent transformation of the pharmaceutical industry will become more comprehensive. Notably, in a "digital and intelligent technology empowerment initiative", the Plan calls for strengthening the research, development, and application of digital and intelligent products in the pharmaceutical industry, integrating and unleashing the value of pharmaceutical data elements, upgrading information infrastructure, and deepening the application of AI technologies.
