Recently, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) has formulated and released the Announcement on Strictly Prohibiting the Production and Sale of "Special Supply Liquor" (Draft for Comment) (the "Draft"), which is open for public comments until June 6, 2024.
The Draft stipulates that producing or selling liquor products containing labels such as "special supply," "exclusive supply," or "internal supply" for Party/government agencies and the military is strictly prohibited. It also bars catering businesses from selling liquor products with similar labels. Furthermore, the Draft bans designing, producing, representing, or publishing advertisements for liquor products containing content related to "special supply," "exclusive supply," or "internal supply" for Party/government agencies and the military. Using the name of "special supply," "exclusive supply," or "internal supply" for Party/government agencies and the military to market liquor products or conduct false or misleading promotion is also forbidden. The Draft also emphasizes strict prohibiting printing companies from printing trademarks, packaging, decorations, or bottle labels containing content such as "special supply," "exclusive supply," or "internal supply" for Party/government agencies and the military.
